14 Questions to ask before choosing an Office 365 partner:

  1. Who will be talking to Microsoft when there are questions or problems with the software?  Your partner should be the one handling any software or application related problems.
  2. Who owns my data.  (confirm your data is not being used to build advertising products)?
  3. Who has control over my data?  
  4. What is the approach to security and which features are offered to guard against external attacks.
  5. What are the best practices related to redundancy, resiliency, and distributed services?
  6. Who will inform me of important security, privacy and compliance-related changes to the service
  7. What is their commitment to keeping the service up and running?
  8. Do they allow you to turn on and off privacy impacting features?
  9. Do they offer privacy related controls and distributed services?  (Make them list them out)
  10. Do they grant visability into where the user data is stored and who can access it?
  11. What are the security measures they use to secure your data and which of them are customizable?
  12. Do they allow you to retrieve your data from the service at any time for any reason without their assistance?
  13. Do they comply with industry standards including ISO 27001, FISMA, Fedramp, HIPPA)?  DO THE KNOW how to set them up during the installation in the Microsoft Portal? Have them tell you all that they comply with.
