NSK Inc President To Speak at Babson College on Cloud Computing
Tim Lasonde to speak on panel sponsored by the Babson College Alumni Technology Council
Boston, MA, October 12, 2010 – Tim Lasonde, President of the Boston-based IT Consulting firm NSK Inc, will be speaking at Babson College for a panel discussion on Cloud Computing for Small Businesses. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 13, is part of the BATC Breakfast Speaker Series which is sponsored by the Babson College Alumni Technology Council. Lasonde will be joined by Ed Turkel, Solutions Strategy Manager at Hewlett Packard and Nicos Vekiarides, CEO of Twinstrata.
“You can’t have an IT conversation these days without using the term Cloud Computing. It is a very timely issue,” explains Lasonde. Cloud Computing is a computing model consisting of networks, servers, and applications that are accessed through a network connection. In most cases, Clouds are managed by off-site providers where storage space and applications are accessed via an internet connection.
Discussions at Babson will include how Cloud Computing benefits small businesses more than large enterprises. According to Lasonde, “Small businesses have fewer compliance and storage restrictions [than large corporations], and their networks tend to be simpler, making them a perfect match for moving to the Cloud.” Lasonde is speaking from personal experience as NSK is currently utilizing Cloud services. “Cloud Computing has helped NSK greatly by standardizing our technologies and product offerings.”
The speaking engagement is scheduled to commence at 7:30 am in the Needham/Wellesley Room of Olin Hall at Babson College Campus. Registration information can be found here.
