SBPP - Small Business Procurement Program
Governor Deval Patrick signed a new executive order (Executive Order No. 523) establishing the Small Business Procurement Program (SBPP). Governor Patrick recognizes the impact small businesses have on the Massachusetts economy, and that due to the latest recession, many small businesses are faced with new and complex challenges. The goals of the SBPP are to increase state spending with participating Massachusetts-based small businesses and to provide simple and easy acces to information and resources that can assist the small business community.
SBPP is within the Operational Services Division (OSD). The OSD administers the procurement process by establishing Statewide Contracts for goods and services that support the socioeconomic and environmental goals of the Commonwealth and by providing specific operational services.
Nancy Keddy, CEO and founder of NSK Inc recognizes the challenges that small businesses, specifically minority businesses face when trying to establish themselves. “Since I am a woman-owned IT Service company, I am a minority in the industry. Having the WBE certification opens up a window of opportunities for NSK.”
